Livingston Accepting Bids For Tennis And Pickleball Court Work

Livingston is accepting bids to do upgrades at its tennis courts as well as create a new pickleball court.

Mayor Curtis Hayes said the new courts will replace existing ones in the city’s baseball park area. He said the work will include demolishing the current tennis courts, grading, and laying asphalt for new courts.

“We’ve just had a lot interest here in the community, it seems like the growing fad is pickleball courts across the country,” Hayes said. “So after visiting a couple of communities and listening to our residents, the Board of Aldermen and I decided this is the route we want to go.”

Hayes said after the work is complete, Livingston will have three new pickleball courts and one tennis court. He said they hope to get a program up and running and potentially even start a league.

Hayes said the will open bids mid-May. He said work has already begun to prep the site for the project.

“I think the community appears is going to embrace it really really well,” Hayes said. “And a lot of other communities have got pickleball leagues. And this just brings more people into Livingston and improves the quality of life here in Livingston.”
