Overton County School officials are looking into installing new bleachers at the Livingston Academy Football Field.
Building Committee Chairman Mike Hayes said data has been submitted to architects to see what will be the best fit for the stadium.
“Once the architect gets back to us and gives us a recommendation… as a building committee, we’ll present that to the Board,” Hayes said. “Then, obviously, it’s up to the board as a whole to determine if we want to proceed with that.”
Mark Winningham is the Director of Schools for Overton County. He said his ultimate goal goes beyond new bleachers.
“If I had my choice of what we would do, it would be to remove the existing stadium and replace it with a new [one],” Winningham said. “But that’s not my decision solely to make.”
Hayes said it could take some time before bleachers are installed at Livingston’s football field.
“If it’s something we want to proceed with, it’s not going to happen this year,” Hayes said. “It’ll probably be two years from now. Obviously this football season starts in August, so that would probably be too early.”
Hayes said there could be a possibility of installing new bleachers in time for the 2019 football season.
No timeline was given regarding the renovation process or when architects would have estimates ready for the district.
