Life Sentence Appeal Denied For Putnam Woman

The state court of appeals has denied a Putnam County woman’s appeal of her life sentence for murder.

Tiffany Michelle Taylor was convicted in the 1996 killing of her mother, Theresa Parramoure. Taylor was 16 at the time of the crime. She appealed her conviction alleging that a juvenile life sentence violated the Eighth Amendment.

“Based on the foregoing authorities and reasoning, we conclude that the petition was barred by the one-year statute of limitations for filing a petition for post-conviction relief,” Judge Thomas Woodall wrote in the decision. “Accordingly, the post-conviction court’s dismissal of the petition is affirmed.”

Taylor was charged as a juvenile but the state petitioned to have her tried as an adult.
