Life Church Opens Public Indoor Playground in Cookeville

Life Church has opened an indoor public playground called ‘Tiny Town Playground’ at its Cookeville campus.

Nursery Coordinator Kelly Leech says the church already had the playground in place and simply decided to open it during the week.

“It wasn’t being used so we figured why not invite the community just to find community within themselves and for mothers to connect,” Leech says. “[It allows] kids to have somewhere to go that was a safe place to hang out that was free and easily accessible to all the parents.”

Life Church officially opened the playground to the public Monday through a grand-opening event. Leech says many parents have already expressed interest in using the facility.

“So far, we’ve had parents coming in with home school groups and just bringing their kids to connect and socialize with other kids their age,” Leech says. “We’ve got some parents that are interested in birthday parties and coming in 9-12 and celebrate with friends. We’ve had parents meeting to hang out just to find community or talk with other moms. It’s just been a really fun time for kids to run around, get their energy out, and we close just before nap time.”

Leech says the indoor playground provides a unique and valuable resource to families within the community.

“We don’t really have any indoor playgrounds that are free to the public. It’s accessible for any demographic and any person that has time during their day,” Leech says. “We’ve had so many people just saying thank you and that they really needed this. It’s just an additional place for them to go, somewhere they can walk in, feel safe, and let their kids have fun.”

Tiny Town Playground is located inside the Life Church building at 2223 North Washington Avenue Cookeville. The playground is open Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and noon.
