Cookeville’s Department of Leisure Services is partnering with the Upper Cumberland Association of Realtors to present the 2018 Holiday Home Challenge and Tour of Lights.
Leisure Services Director Rick Woods said the contest allows residents to show off their Christmas decorations to the community.
“Folks who really get into decorating for Christmas can enter their homes, and we put the homes on a list that we then publish and tell folks that these homes are very well decorated,” Woods said. “We also do a judging with the realtors who give out prizes and awards for what the judges deem to be the top decorated homes.”
Woods said the department decided to bring the event back for 2018 after a successful contest last year.
“It was very successful but we hope that people will get really enthused about it and participate,” Woods said. “There are three different categories [to enter] and we hope that people will get into the Christmas spirit and participate with us. Then folks will go out and see these wonderfully decorated homes.”
Residents interested in registering for the contest can either fill out the online application or visit the Leisure Services office at Cookeville City Hall on Broad Street. Registration runs through Nov. 26 with judging taking place Nov. 30 through Dec. 2 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Winners will be announced Monday, Dec. with the UCAR awarding $500 in prize money.
