LA Teacher Starting New High School HOF For Teachers And Alumni

A Livingston Academy teacher seeking nominations to create the high school’s first hall of fame class.

Ag Teacher Michael Johnson said the school has its own football hall of fame, but he wanted to expand the opportunity to teachers and alumni.

“I got the idea from seeing a post on the internet where Cumberland County High School inducted some people into their own hall of fame,” Johnson said. “Just thought Livingston Academy has plenty of good alumni members that have done great things.”

In order to be nominated, Johnson said they must have graduated at least 10 years ago. Johnson said it is open to alumni of all categories such as businesses owners, doctors or politicians. Johnson said longtime teachers and principals also qualify.

“We hope that this becomes a pretty popular thing, and we get a lot of recognition of former alumni members,” Johnson said. “Maybe some that have been forgotten over the years. We’ll take anybody from back to 1909 up to recent classes.”

Johnson said the first class will be inducted at the annual alumni association dinner this April. Johnson said the plan is to create a wall for hall of fame members and add inductees to the association’s website.
