Livingston Academy postponed its Tennessee Promise meeting due to the school’s closure for inclement weather Thursday.
Gear-Up Coordinator Vanessa Farris said attending the meeting is one of the four requirements for students participating in the program.
“At the mandatory meeting they meet their Tennessee Achieves mentor,” Farris said. “And just talk through the transition from high school to college whether that be a TCAT, Volunteer State Community College, or such.”
The new meeting date will be Tuesday, January 31st at 3 p.m. Farris said despite the postponement, Livingston Academy is still within hte guidelines of having the meeting.
Farris said the meeting is using its allotted makeup day following the postponement. She said if students are unable to attend they must have a serious reason, and then work with TN Promise to attend a meeting in a nearby district.
“Students are expected to reschedule work and make arrangements to be there,” Farris said. “(…) TNAchieves covers a majority of the state so they’re traveling a lot doing these meetings. Each school gets one and if you miss that then you have to work with TNAchieve’s excuse procedures to see if you can attend a surrounding one.”
