Keisling Honors Two Clay County Families With Road Dedications

State Representative Kelly Keisling traveled to Clay County Wednesday dedicating two roadways to the Rich and Plumlee families.

The mile stretch starting at 9456 Clay County Highway in Moss now known as John “Mock” Rich Korean War Veteran Highway. Daughter Dianna Kincaid said it was a special day to see the road sign revealed.

“My dad, he was so proud to be able to have served his country, and he so loved his family. Loved us all fiercely and he loved this farm and this community,” Kincaid said. “So, it means a great deal for him to be honored in this way.”

The second dedication honors Louis and Eva Plumlee. Keisling said Louis was a lifelong farmer while his wife Eva was a dedicated school teacher. Keisling said the sign will be placed at the foot of Walker Hill and proceed east to Proctor Creek Road.

“They raised three wonderful children,” Keisling said. “I really look forward to this. As a matter of fact, it’s always a highlight for me to participate and do road dedications.”

The Rich dedication is located right in front of the family’s old farm. Daughter and County Clerk Donna Rich Watson said she contacted Keisling about the possibility.

“I wanted to do something in his honor, because he was such a proud veteran, and he would tell us stories all the time throughout life,” Rich Watson said. “He was so gracious and humble and raised over an acre of garden just to feed us throughout the year and everybody else. He was just a good christian man.”

Both markers were paid and installed by Highway Superintendent Jason Browning. Grandson Taylor Kincaid, Sister-In-Law to John Rich Trixie Savage and County Mayor Dale Reagan were also present Wednesday.
