Cookeville’s J&S Construction leaving its former facility for a new location on Foreman Drive.
President Josh Stites said they are taking up half of the 24,000 square foot two-story facility and will build the rest out for a future tenant. Stites said they decided to move after an opportunity arose to lease out their previous building off of Willow Avenue.
“(It) actually has a little bit of a smaller footprint,” Stites said. “We have a more efficient layout and design. It’s a very collaborative space so that our team, as we’re working for our clients to design and construct their office or their church building, that we’re able to work more cohesively as a team.”
Stites said the new building has a large conference room that local organizations can book for their meetings or events. Stites said the building contains a lot of new technology including geothermal heating and cooling as well as a new paneling system that weathers over time.
“We needed a new home and it was a good opportunity for us to put our abilities to use to build us a new headquarters that will set our company up to be able to serve our clients and be a resource to the community in the foreseeable future,” Stites said.
Stites said they expect the new space to encourage teamwork and thereby improve the company’s overall service quality.
“It also will enable us to grow as a company,” Stites said. “We have some space to grow into so that we can add team members in the coming months and years.”
Stites said this focus on high quality staff will allow the middle Tennessee community to feel the improvement they are working towards regardless of the job they are working on.
“Our construction company is nothing without our team,” Stites said. “And this headquarters allows us to recruit and retain some of the very best talent in the entire state of Tennessee.”
