The Lil’ Wranglers Junior Rodeo is hosting a special clinic this Saturday.
Bull rider Rush Reedy will bring a barrel bull and a few young bulls to help young rider enhance their skills. Owner Laura Wallace said that if kids want to experience rodeo, she’s happy to provide that chance.
“The rodeo I was raised up in wasn’t about money,” Wallace said. “It was about people. It’s about family. And if these kids want to try it everybody should be treated the same. That’s why it’s free for everybody. They should be given that opportunity.”
Wallace said she was raised doing rodeo with her family, and she wants to create that experience for others. She said that the Lil’ Wranglers Junior Rodeo emphasizes family values and manners, as well as good, old-fashioned cowboy fun.
“We teach respect,” Wallace said. “They stand for the flag, and they bow their heads for prayer. They learn to keep trying put effort out on the things that they like to do.”
Young riders can expect to learn better balance skills on a hydraulic bull, barrel bull, or even a live young bull if their skills have them ready enough.
Wallace said that in addition to the clinic, they also host a rodeo on the first Saturday of every month for six months out of the year.
The free clinic will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
