The man accused of killing his father in Sparta March 8th remains in the Blue Earth County Jail Sunday under $1.5 million bond.
21-year-old Joshua Nathanial Jordi, a student at Minnesota State University, faces first degree murder charges. Jordi is awaiting extradition to White County.
According to court documents, White County Sheriff Deputies found Timothy Jordi, the estranged father of Joshua Jordi, on the floor of his Washington Avenue home March 8th. Timothy Jordi had suffered multiple stab wounds. Investigators observed size 11 bloody footprints from the body to the bathroom
After an investigation, police found Joshua Jordi had been absent from campus and his mother’s home at the time of the murder. Court records said Jordi allegedly told police at first he had spent spring break at the dorm, but later admitted he had not.
Law enforcement in Mankato searched Jordi’s room at Minnesota State’s Crawford Dorm. Investigators found four knives in the room. They also found a notebook including a diagram of Timothy Jordi’s home. The notebook included a list of items connected to the concealment of a crime including latex gloves, an extra set of shoes, plastic bags and a backpack.
The Mankato Department of Public Safety also found surveillance footage showing someone changing the license plate on a car similar to that of Joshua Jordi.
According to court records, Tennessee investigators found a $500,000 insurance policy in Timothy Jordi’s home naming Joshua Jordi as beneficiary should the father die.
Joshua Jordi enrolled at Minnesota State in the fall of 2014. Campus officials said Jordi is a senior pursuing a degree in computer information technology.
