Jamestown Man Charged with Attempted Homicide

A Jamestown man faces attempted homicide and aggravated assault charges following an altercation on Sawmill Ridge Road.

Jeremy J. Dalton, 39, is being held on $250,000 bond after stabbing Luther Byrd inside Byrd’s home.

According to arrest warrants, Byrd allowed Dalton to enter his home to use his shower after Dalton’s electricity was shut off days before.

Byrd told officers that at one point, Dalton had become irate and violent during an argument. Dalton then grabbed a knife and stabbed Byrd multiple times in the jaw, eye, and back of the head.

Arrest warrants indicate Dalton ran from the residence and Byrd was transported to the hospital with the knife still lodged in his head.

Byrd told authorities at the hospital about the incident, resulting in Dalton being arrested by the Fentress County Sheriff’s Department later that evening.

No word on Byrd’s current condition following the incident.
