Jamestown Businesses Hear About Facade Grants

Jamestown hosted a web seminar on Monday for businesses who are eligible for the Economic and Community Development Facade Grant.

Jamestown Alderwoman Misty Clark said projects such as signage, painting, awnings, lighting, windows, doors and entryways are all eligible for funding.

“We did have a good turnout,” Clark said. “A lot of people are really excited to get projects started. This has been something in the works for a while, so we are just happy to get it off the ground”

Jamestown received the full $100,000 from the grant. Clark said businesses that do receive funding will have to match just 25% of the total cost. Tennessee Main Street Program Nancy Williams spoke at the web seminar and shared photos of success stories from other downtown areas that received the grant.

“A lot of the buildings in our downtown are older,” Clark said. “So we are definitely in need of a face lift. We are already seeing some work being made in downtown Jamestown.”

Clark said only businesses in Downtown Jamestown can benefit from the grant since the funding comes from the Tennessee Main Street Program. A committee was formed in Jamestown to review the applications for funding. Clark said businesses will be scored based on the impact and design of the project. The highest scores will receive funding.
