East 52 Volunteer Fire Department has voted Fire Chief James King to another term.
King said he has served in the position for nine years and will have another three to lead the Clay County department.
“Well that department started in 2002, and I joined,” King said. “I was one of the one’s that helped start that department I guess you can say. Started out as a young person just fighting fires. Grabbing a nozzle and putting water on the fire. That’s what I started doing and over the years it just evolved.”
King said the appointment shows the trust that his crew has in him. King said as chief, safety in emergency situations is one of his main responsibilities.
“One of the main importances for us and the public is that everybody goes home is the main thing after calls,” King said. “Training and getting those guys trained so that they know how to use that equipment.”
King as well as board members for the department were elected during a Wednesday meeting.
