A team of Jackson County veterans have joined forces to capture soldier memories.
Jackson County Veterans Hall Secretary/Treasurer William Draper said they are creating and preserving biographical videos of Jackson County Veterans. Draper said the video records will be viewed for generations to come.
“The idea of course is to preserve this record for all history so that their children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, whatever maybe years from now can come there to the archives.”
Draper said the videos generally include a 30 to 45 minute story with geneology, military service, and life after the military.
Draper said the video team includes American Legion Post 126’s Commander Dale Smith, Adjutant Everett Vanhooser, and media specialist Retired MSgt Corina Collins who arrange the interviews.
Draper said he is the principle interviewer and veteran Craig Moore is the principle cameraman.
“We hope that it serves as some example of the sacrifice that people, men and women, have given to keep this United States of America as a free country.”
Draper coordinates use of the Veterans Hall theater where the videos are viewed. He imagines future generations coming to the theater to learn about their heritage.
“You know gather with their friends or relatives, kinfolk, and watch the story that this person presents of their time, primarily their biography slash military history.”
