Jackson Schools Start Spring Semester In-Person

All Jackson County Schools will start the second half of the school year in person starting Monday.

Director of Schools Kristy Brown said the school system will make adjustments as needed while monitoring quarantine numbers as students return.

“The plan for Jackson County Schools to return after the break will be in-person classes five days a week at all of our schools,” Brown said. “We plan to monitor the positive case numbers or anybody that has to be quarantined when they return very closely.”

Brown said some families can still switch to virtual learning depending on the situation. Brown said virtual students from the fall semester can also continue at home instruction.

“We are not going to require for students to come back from virtual if that is the choice that the family made earlier in the school year,” Brown said. “Students that want to go virtual for some reason at this point are working with principals on a case to case basis.”

Brown said each school will also review its COVID precautions to see if improvements can be made.Brown said keeping students in the classroom has been the plan since school started.
