Jackson County Schools will enter the new school year with Caroline Woodason as the new Elementary Supervisor.
Woodason said she will be overseeing the curriculum and day-to-day processes for Gainesboro Elementary, Dodson Branch Elementary, and Jackson County Middle School. Woodason said she hopes she can improve the district with the ideas she has developed from working in education for twenty-five years.
“I’m also very calm in (crises), which helps ’cause there’s always something going in a school district,” Woodason said. “And I am good with budgets, so I am looking forward to seeing how we can use what money we have to provide the best experience with students.”
Woodason said she will start the new school year by watching and listening to learn everything she can about the school system. She said she loves working with teachers to help them grow and be the best they can for their students.
Woodason said she has worked in many different roles in multiple states, including a preschool director in Michigan and a middle school math teacher in Georgia.
“Assistant principal, instructional coach, moved to central office, and it was a small school district so I did many different hats,” Woodason said. “I helped with budgets, federal programs, English language learners, elementary, and math.”
Woodason said she is excited to have moved to Jackson County after her son attended Tennessee Tech and decided to stay in the Cookeville area.
“My husband and I decided to move closer to the area to be closer to grandkids, so I found this opportunity,” Woodason said.
Woodason said she has spent much of her time leading up to the new year registering students and purchasing equipment for a new Pre-K class in the county.
