Jackson County Schools Bidding For Two Pieces Of Equipment

Jackson County Schools putting out for bid for two items to improve the school system.

Director of Schools Kristy Brown said the first is for intercom upgrades at each of the schools. She said in discussions about school safety, one component that came up was a need for better communication tools in the schools.

“Particularly at one entire school at Jackson County Middle School and then some updates and upgrades at the other schools,” Brown said. “It’s just time to do that and make it where it reaches all the areas in the school and then the other parts of the campus as well so we can communicate effectively when we need to.”

Brown said the other bid was for the school system to purchase a mini excavator at the request of the maintenance department. She said they had rent out similar equipment so many times it made financial sense to purchase one for the school system to own.

Brown said renting the mini excavator sometimes caused issues when the equipment was not immediately available when the school system needed it.

“So just to be more efficient and make repairs and get back to business sooner,” Brown said. “That is something we’d request to put out to bid for.”
