Jackson County Mayor Debate To Be Held Saturday

The first ever Jackson County mayor debate will be held today at the Jackson County Fairgrounds.

The five candidates have been asked to attend the event, which will be moderated by Cookeville City Councilman Dwight Henry.

“We’ve went back to folks in their 90’s and they don’t remember one ever being here,” candidate Truman Stearnes said. “There is such a need for one in our county because there’s a large number of people who don’t know anything about the candidates.”

Stearnes said the total number of voters has doubled since four years ago in Jackson County.

Candidates taking part in the debate will not know the questions being asked and there will be a chance for the audience to ask questions to the candidates.

The debate gets underway at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the fairgrounds building located on Gladdice Highway
