Jackson Co. Schools To Upgrade Bus Cameras

Jackson County Schools will be getting upgraded cameras for all its school buses.

Director Kristy Brown said they have had cameras in buses for some time but now need upgrades. She said the cameras have been having issues with recording and equipment malfunctions.

“It does help when we have things that happen on the bus,” Brown said. “Of course, bus drivers are focused on driving the bus and maintaining order. But when things do happen, it’s good to be able to refer back to videos and check in to situations.”

Brown said the upgraded system will cost about $36,000. She said now that the board has approved the purchase they will go through that process.

Brown said they will then schedule a time to install the cameras. She said the cameras will be installed by the start of next school year at the latest.
