Jackson County School System to bid out upgrade work on its gym floors at Jackson County High School and Jackson County Middle School.
Director of Schools Kristy Brown said the work at Jackson County Middle School involves redoing paint and reformatting the volleyball courts. She said Jackson County High School’s floor will be a larger undertaking.
“We try to do regular maintenance in all of our areas but our high school gym has more humidity in it than it should I had somebody to come and take a look at it,” Brown said. “We want to make sure we prevent any further issues. It’s kind of minor at this point.”
Brown said as for budgeting with these projects, she hopes the middle school’s floor sits in the $10,000 to $15,000 range. She said she does not have an estimate for the high school’s floor at this time.
Brown said they hope to get the bid out within the next week. She said ideally both projects will be conducted over the summer to avoid disrupting school time.
“Again it’s one of those things that we have to look at every so often,” Brown said. “So it’s a needed project and we’ll be looking at how to move forward.”
