Jackson County Chamber of Commerce is trying to create a beautification committee.
Chamber Director Hope Vargas said that they want to have a group to help enrich downtown Gainesboro.
“As we move forward our efforts need a home, just like anything does,” Vargas said. “And as well as a group of people who are passionate about this type of project. It really allows people to have a voice with what’s going on in our town, which I think is really important.”
Vargas said that right now they’re trying to get as many people as they can to join the committee. She said that qualifications can range from experience with grant writing to people who simply want to help.
Vargas said that they are looking for individuals who have an eye for beauty, and are creative.
“But then again creative with money,” Vargas said. “Anyone with grant-writing experience of course would be phenomenal, but mostly we’re just looking for people who want to give back to our community. And if they have zero experience in the things mentioned and just simply want to help, we desperately need them.”
Vargas said that they hope to have the first official beautification committee meeting within the next several weeks. She said that they want to have a general plan written down so they can ensure the goals of the committee line up with future events, as well as line up with the direction in which the chamber is headed.
Vargas said that anyone interested in joining the committee can contact her or contact the Chamber directly.
