Jackson County Central Fire Department will host a car show this Saturday, October 2nd.
Chief Jeff Conn said that the event will have food booths, snow cones from Pelican’s, and prizes for the show. He said that all proceeds will benefit the department.
“We have a 1978 brush truck that’s used for fires in woods and in fields and things like that,” Conn said. “And we’re trying to replace it. So everything we raise from this will go directly to try to buy a new truck.”
Conn said that all vehicles are welcome to register, from classic cars to motorcycles. He said that each vehicle costs $20 to register, which will happen at a designated location on the day of the event.
Conn said that the fire department views this fundraiser as another opportunity to get out into the community, especially after having to spend so long apart.
“It means a lot to us,” Conn said. “It’s good for us to be able to get back out and meet everybody, to show them our equipment and talk about the things we do. Not being able to do it for so long, we really missed it.”
Registration for the event will begin at 8 a.m. with the trophy presentation held at 2 p.m.
