IRS Extends Tax Deadline For Putnam County Victims

The Internal Revenue Service tax deadline will be extended until July 15 for residents affected by Tuesday’s tornado.

“The IRS is offering this relief to any area designated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as qualifying for individual assistance,” According to a Friday release. “Currently this includes Davidson, Putnam and Wilson counties.”

The extension includes individual and business tax returns as well as payments. This includes two quarterly payments during the first half of 2020 which will not be due until July.

2019 IRA contributions can be made until July 15.

The changes to the IRS Tax rules for residents in the area includes provisions for uninsured or unreimbursed losses. IRS officials said those losses can be filed on your 2019 or 2020 return. The FEMA declaration number 4476 must be included on your return.
