Authorities have arrested a Livingston man for allegedly providing fentanyl to a man who died from a drug overdose last year.
An Overton County grand jury indictment charges 51-year-old Ronald Anson Wheeler with two counts of second-degree murder and several drug-related offenses. He’s behind bars at the Overton County Jail on $500,000 bond.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said the charges stem from an investigation into the overdose death of Christopher William Thompson. Authorities found the 25-year-old deceased inside his Clay County home on September 20.
The investigation revealed that Thompson died from fentanyl toxicity. A press release said that Ronald Wheeler allegedly gave Thompson the drugs the day prior to his death.
Indictments handed down Tuesday also charge Wheeler with three counts of delivery of fentanyl schedule II, two counts Sale of Fentanyl Schedule II, two counts Sale of Heroin Schedule I, and two counts Delivery of Heroin Schedule I.
