The Cumberland County Sheriffs Department and the TBI investigating an apparent homicide and assault in Fairfield Glade early Wednesday.
The suspect in the case, 33-year-old Jason James Chapman, was found dead at an Arkansas hotel Wednesday afternoon from self-inflicted injuries, according to the department.
Fairfield Glade Police responded to a domestic call at 510 Wimberly Road around 7:55am Wednesday morning. Once inside, they found 69-year-old Karen Chapman dead. 76-year old James Chapman had severe lacerations and was airlifted to UT Medical Center. The two are residents of the home.
As the investigation continued, Jason Chapman, also a resident of the home, was identified as a suspect in the case. A Be-On-The-Lookout advisory was issued and the investigation found Jason Chapman at a Malvern, Arkansas hotel.
The investigation continues. The condition of James Chapman not known.
