Industrial Drive To Be Paved In Monterey

Monterey’s Industrial Drive will soon be getting paved.

Monday night the town’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen accepted a $127,000 bid to pave a half mile of Industrial Drive from Burger King to near the city limits.

“That road serves Perdue and a lot of folks who live out past Perdue,” Monterey Mayor Bill Wiggins said. “It’s got tons of 18 wheeler traffic on it and we’ve got to address that road issue right away.”

Wiggins said the city has $81,000 budgeted for the Industrial Drive project, but the board has agreed to borrow money to pay the additional $46,000 to cover the project.

Industrial Drive is one of three roads that will soon be paved. The others include East Rail Road Avenue and Old Walton Road.

The Monterey Street Committee met several weeks ago and approved those streets for paving.
