Cumberland County School Board Incumbents had a good night in Thursday’s election.
The only new face coming onto the board is in District 6, where Chris A. King received 705 complementary votes to replace Tom Netherton. Netherton did not run for re-election.
Anita C. Hale defeated her opponent in District 4, Brian McDonald, 652-508. Robert Safdie in District 2 and Board Chairperson Teresa Boston in District 8 ran unopposed. Safdie received 452 votes, while Boston garnered 827.
In the Cumberland County Commission races, Joe Sherrill was re-elected over his challenger in District 6, Charley Wilson, winning 589-251. Meanwhile, incumbent Colleen K. Mall was unopposed, receiving 2,252 complementary votes.
Lorrie Lowe Powell will be replacing David Simcox as Cumberland County Assessor of Property. Powell ran unopposed and received 9,452 votes.
A total of 11,716 votes were cast in Cumberland County, a 27.12-percent turnout.
