The state will honor Pickett County’s Sierra Hull Friday with a new Music Pathway sign.
The sign will be located in front of the Chamber of Commerce on Highway 111. Byrdstown-Pickett County Chamber of Commerce Director Bill Robbins said they have a ceremony planned for Friday with Hull in attendance. Robbins said they built the sign after the state encouraged them to.
“This sign is a part of the state’s Music Pathway Program,” Robbins said. “Each county in the state of Tennessee is getting a pathway sign for a noting artist that is from their county and Sierra Hull is that artist that we are featuring.
The Music Pathways program identifies, explains, and preserves the legacy of music in Tennessee, with markers across the state. Robbins said they chose Hull to be represented on the sign because she is the most popular artist to come out of Pickett County.
Robbins said the sign project was a long time in the making and is excited to have the ceremony the sign deserves.
“That worked out really well,” Robbins said. “We have struggled to get the okay to where and put the sign from her team. That happened here once we secured the benefit of the program coming up on Saturday, her concert. She is going to be here so we rolled her in here for a two-for-one.”
Robbins said the sign is a wooden side that has a metal post and will feature Hull on the sign.
“The very top of the sign says Tennessee Music Pathway,” Robbins said. “The sign is two-sided and one side shows as she is today and one side shows her as a younger artist coming up and it describes her and what she has been doing.”
Robbins said the sign will hopefully get people to visit and learn about a talented person who grew up in Pickett County.
