Highlands Residential Services seeing a decrease in monetary losses as it wraps up projects to reduce leaks around its facilities.
Director of Operations Chris Cassetty said a waterline project at Baxter housing is in the final state testing stage.
“That’s going to be a huge help to us,” Cassetty said. “We’ve talked before the past year and a half and two years we’ve probably lost $200,000 in water cost down there. That’s a huge help. Willow Heights was one of the other places we were having issue.”
Cassetty said the contract for Willow Heights was completed last week. Cassetty said another project will soon begin in Monterey once materials are delivered. Cassetty said once these three projects are completed water leaks should no longer be an issue.
“I think the big things that we have been talking about that has been affecting our financials are better,” Cassetty said. “We’re in pretty good shape right now.”
The ongoing Baxter project installed a new system and removed the master meter from the authority’s housing. On completion, Baxter will read the installed individual meters.
