Fire crews were on scene for nearly five hours early Sunday morning as a residential home was completely lost on Calfkiller Highway.
Putnam County Fire Captain Coty Nash said they received the call at 3:30 AM and responded to a single-story home near the White County line. Nash said it was being paged in as a kitchen fire.
“By the time we managed to get that far and get out to a rural area it was fully involved,” Nash said. “At this time we don’t have any official cause of a fire, but we believe it might have been a propane heater they had in the kitchen.”
Luckily, Nash said everyone in the home was able to make it out safely and there were no injuries. He said crews cleared the scene around 9:00 AM. Nash said The home was a total loss after the fire.
