Tennessee’s Mayberry town opens for the Spring season on Wednesday in Historic Granville.
The 2021 season is themed with women and their contributions. Historic Granville President Randall Clemons said highlighting women from Granville to the White House is about showing their talents and impact throughout history.
“We have a wonderful exhibit at the Granville Museum and we have totally changed the Sutton Homestead Historic Home,” Clemons said. “Into the contributions of women and our antique car museum in the Pioneer Village also has an exhibit on women and automobiles.”
Clemons said there will be exhibits about the life of the pioneer women who lived in the village cabin and stories of women and the cars they purchased. Clemons said there will also be a return of live music and dinner at the Sutton Old Time Music Hour, all new antique cars on display and crafting classes.
“Our next one towards the end of this month is on basket weaving,” Clemons said. “We have had such response to it that we’re going to be adding a second one to it.”
Clemons said that women and their impact during the Civil War will be highlighted. Clemons said there is also an exhibit on First Ladies of the United States.
“An example of that is our dining room is decorated with different china patterns,” Clemons said. “That have been chosen by First Ladies while they were in the White House and we’re showing a little history of that.”
He said people should come at 11:00 AM and if they take a town tour, they can see everything there is to do by 3:00 PM. Town tour tickets are $5.
