Smith County’s Highway-25 will remain closed until at least August 1st.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation said crews will have to repair a rock fall mitigation project before the road can reopen.
A portion of a bluff above the highway fell off this week, striking and disabling a moving vehicle.
TDOT says a contractor has implemented an expedited schedule to excavate the remaining unstable material. TDOT has placed a signed detour directing traffic around the area via State Routes 80, 85 and 263.
