The Putnam County Commission has appointed Mark Harris to serve four more years as the county’s Veterans Service Officer.
Harris said he’s excited to take on more work for the next four years.
“The goal is to be a little bit more efficient in how we are doing things here at the office,” Harris said. “We are also formulating some ideas for the county and we will see those things come together. We are actually being able to look ahead versus what’s in front of us.”
Harris has served in the position for the past two and a half years after replacing the county’s former VSO.
Harris said he’s pleased with what he’s been able to accomplish in that time.
“We’ve been able to bring on an additional person and now we are able to see more veterans and provide a better service to the county,” Harris said. “The hardest problem I had with my job was the people I couldn’t see when they left the office.”
Harris term as Veterans Service Officer will end in September of 2021.
