Hagerty Opening First Permanent UC Senate Office In Cookeville

History has been made in the Upper Cumberland with U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty opening the region’s first permanent senate office in Cookeville.

Hagerty’s Deputy State Director Michael Sullivan said the recent growth of the city made it a deserving candidate for a new office.

“Cookeville is consistently considered one of the top and fastest growing micropolitan areas in the United States,” Hagerty said. “And, it is an area that its growth requires, in our mind, that it has the support of its federally elected U.S. senator.”

Sullivan said opening the Broad Street location will take a few months, but that does not mean the region will go unserved. Sullivan said Field Representative Tanner Cox and Constituent Services Representative Bonny Warren are both on the grounds.

“The purpose of this office is to provide constituent services and direst access to the U.S Senator,” Hagerty said. “Our office will be able to help handle any constituent service request. Whether it is for social security, insurance help, veteran benefits help. Anything that we can be assistant to.”

Having a U.S senate office has more than just federal perks for residents. Sullivan said the office will also collaborate with local governments in times of need.

“Additionally, it will provide some support to the local government across the Upper Cumberland region,” Sullivan said. “We had the terrible tornadoes this last spring in 2020, and there was a lot of need for disaster relief and emergency relief in the area. That stuff can all be coordinated through the state offices. Having an office in Cookeville will help those recovery efforts greatly.”

Cox was most recently Campaign Manager for Congressman John Rose. Previously, he was a Regional Field Director for Hagerty. He is a graduate of Tennessee Tech University. Cox is originally from Fentress County and lives in Cookeville.

Warren has 10 years of constituent service experience with the U.S. House of Representatives. Having previously worked in Tennessee state government, Warren has a background serving constituents. Warren lives in Cookeville with her husband and enjoys her large family.

The office will be located on the 3rd Floor of the L. Clure Morton Federal Building across from the Cookeville Performing Arts Center.
