H.O.M.E Transitional Housing Project Receives Grant For Construction

The McMinnville Noon Rotary Club has funded the construction of four micro-homes at a developing transitional housing community in Warren County.

The project is lead by the Homeless of McMinnville Effort, or H.O.M.E. Co-Founder Sheila Fann said the donation pays half of phase one.

“We’re looking at it in terms of $40,000 and that is four homes,” Fann said. “But that could generate multiple people through out the year. Because our goal is to help them transition into a permanent home.”

Fann said so far, the foundations of the first eight homes are ready to go. Fann said through donations and volunteer work, the organization wants to house this phase in April.

“I think it is a testimony not to H.O.M.E but to our community because the things that can be achieved when people come together in an effort is really amazing,” Fann said. “That is a testimony to Warren County, our city government, our mayor, our city administrator and so many of the churches here.”

Fann said the ultimate goal is to have 20 micro-homes at the Sunset Point Road location. Fann said the community would serve as a bridge between homelessness and finding residents a permanent home.

The vision began to assist the displaced back in 2019 when Fann and co-founder Tina Higgins came up with the idea over dinner.
