Growth Of Tourism Bringing More Members To Byrdstown Pickett Co Chamber

The Byrdstown Pickett County Chamber of Commerce has reached new heights with its membership this year.

Executive Director Billy Robbins said at least 15 new businesses have joined over the last six months bringing the total number to 128 members.

“We had some new businesses coming in and starting to see more businesses interested in the chambers activities and realizing the values of being in the membership,” Robbins said.

Robbins said usually only about 100 businesses make up the membership.Robbins said he credits the increased participation to the growing tourism efforts of the community. Robbins said events such as fishing tournaments have resulted in more people investing into chamber programs as well as businesses collaborating.

“People are ready to be active and it is showing up in all avenues,” Robbins said. “Not only in membership participation but also in activities and programs. People are ready to get out and get active.”

Robbins said overall, chamber officials made it a goal this year to be more present in the community. For example, the chamber was at the home and garden show in Cookeville this weekend making new connections.
