Grant Opportunity Seeks To Improve Security In Monterey

Monterey hopes a grant opportunity will bring some security improvements to town.

The town’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted this week to let the town participate in a Property Conservation Matching Grant Program called the Pool. Mayor Bill Wiggins said the program is offered by the Tennessee Municipal League.

“The Pool was here to do an assessment of our risk management on our properties and they recommended putting cameras on one end of Whitaker Park,” Wiggins said.

The grant also would also fund the installation of a fence behind the police department.

Both projects would total $7.950. It’s a 50-50 matching grant meaning Monterey would have to come up with 3-thousand-975 dollars.
