Girl Scouts Office In Cookeville Closed In Push For Efficiency

The Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee office in Cookeville has closed in an effort to increase efficiency within the organization.

CEO Danielle Barnes said the office closed because it was deemed unnecessary. Barnes said the Nashville-based organization has a strong focus on efficiency and is able to function even better without the old office.

“So for us the priority and the focal point has always been to be able to meet our volunteers and our girls where they are,” Barnes said. “Being able to give them the resources that they need, being able to support them in whatever way that they need, and we can do that without a physical structure.”

Barnes said the scout troops in the area have not been impacted by the closure. She said there have not been any issues managing the area from Nashville.

“In fact, what it has allowed us to do is to be able to respond more agile to the different volunteers and their needs to be able to support the girls,” Barnes said.

Barnes said there are not any plans for a new office in anywhere in middle Tennessee at this time.
