Getting More Seniors Nutrition Help Goal Of Friday Meeting

Local community partners who serve senior citizens and the disabled will gather Friday to learn more about the SNAP Program.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program targets those with limited incomes and limited assets for food assistance. The meeting will inform other service agencies and charitable groups about SNAP.

“Let them know that there’s someone here in the Upper Cumberland area that can help them with application assistance for the SNAP program,” SNAP Coordinator Nestor Chavez said.

Chavez said many seniors have no idea that they can benefit from SNAP. By educating other organizations, Chavez said he hopes more people who need the help can get it.

“If you do come up with someone who that in that situation and you think they could possible qualify, send them our way and see what we can do for them,” Chavez said.

The meeting takes place Friday at the Upper Cumberland Development District Conference Room on South Willow Avenue from 1-3pm.
