Genesis House Seeking Assistance With Donations

Genesis House is seeking assistance for several items.

The organization serves 9 counties in the Upper Cumberland and assists those who are victims of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. Program Manager Denise Dillon said that the items donated by the community play make a huge difference in the lives of their clients.

“We’re grant-funded, so our money is already allocated how it’s going to be spent,” Dillon said. “And Cookeville is an amazing community to us, and everybody just rallies together whenever we ask for help and they always get it to us. Because these donations, we just turn around and give them back to the people who need them.”

Dillon said that the necessary items include paper towels, toilet paper, size 5 and 6 diapers, and Similac Sensitive Formula. She said that currently the organization is set for toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Dillon said that helping people is something she loves doing, and is something they rely on the community for. She said that the group provides a safe place for victims to flee from their abusers, as well as resources to help them move forward.

“Just to see somebody to come from the lowest they can go and watch them walk out of here as the highest they’ve ever been,” Dillon said. “And into their own home that it’s safe for them and their children and just to see the smile on their faces, that I got goosebumps just now.”

Dillon said that those who are able to give can contact the organization via their Facebook page or by phone at (931) 526-5197.
