Gainesboro Studying Downtown For Additional Parking And Connectivity

Gainesboro has partnered with UCDD to conduct a community transportation feasibility study of the downtown area.

Mayor Lloyd Williams said over 100 residents indicated through a preliminary survey that parking and connectivity are the highest wants.

“It is the first step in maybe getting some more grants on making our sidewalks more ADA accessible,” Williams said. “More parking, getting some paving done, and we are also trying to connect our city with our Roaring River Park.”

Williams said biking or walking trails connecting the park is an option being explored. Williams said the growth of the city has made parking for downtown businesses a need, as well.

Williams said the results of the study should be completed sometime this fall. A Community Transportation Grant makes the work possible possible.
