Gainesboro soliciting bids for cosmetic improvements at city hall and its police department.
Mayor Lloyd Williams said the city is looking for quotes on exterior painting, new floors, vent cleaning and new furniture.
“We have looked into it and budgeted for it in the past, but more important stuff has came up in the past,” Williams said. “We’ve kind of put it off. Right now, we are in a pretty good situation to look at it, because we know we will have to do it eventually.”
Williams said the Board of Aldermen wanted to get the city’s facilities in better working condition for employees. Williams said the goal is to have the work completed early next year.
“The Aldermen and Alderwomen got together,” Williams said. “It’s a long time coming. Our city hall we have not done any updates to it in 25 years or more and everything is getting dilapidated.”
