Gainesboro PD Seeking New Officers

The City of Gainesboro wants to hire some new police officers.

Newly hired Police Chief Michael Head said certified officers can be a hard thing to find right now.

“They will go to school and find more pay and just leave to a different place to make more money,” Head said.

Despite the difficulties in finding officers, Head said he doesn’t put the blame on the city.

“We’ve approached them [the city], but with the way the budget is and not much income coming into the city like it used to, it’s just hard to deal with,” Head said. “You can’t blame anybody for going on to something better. Then again, you might find somebody that wants a small town to work in. That’s just what happens.”
