Gainesboro Park Construction Should Begin In September

Gainesboro officials are waiting on metal for the pavilion to arrive to begin the park project.

Construction should begin in September. Chamber of Commerce President Jordan Hunter said bids for the pavilion, concrete setting, and playground equipment are on budget.

“It’s within our budget that we have for the grant, which was $150,000 a year for three years,” Hunter said. “We’re right on track to be able to complete the project on time and spend the full amount allotted. We’re very happy.”

The pavilion bid with Recreational Concepts is $60,000 and the concrete work with Turneys Concrete Solution under $15,000. Hunter said the property has been grated and old trees have been removed.

Hunter said once construction begins it should take 3 weeks to complete.

“September is a tentative, very conservative date, but that’s kinda what we’re shooting for at this point,” Hunter said. “With everything going on, we’re expecting some delays.”

Hunter said city officials ordered supplies the beginning of May, but it can take up to 10 weeks before the supplies arrive. The original date for the playground’s and pavilion completion was August.
