Gainesboro Alderman Wants Public Auction Of Unused City Vehicles

Gainesboro is making plans for a public auction to sell idle city vehicles.

Alderman Ricky Head asked city employees Thursday to start making a list of vehicles that could be sold.

“I just think we have a lot of vehicles that need to be sold, because some of them are just old,” Head said. “A lot of issues with several of them. Possibly look at buying some other ones.”

Head said he has already spoke to the water and street departments and identified vehicles no longer used. Alderman Travis Agee said doing a public auction instead of listing the vehicles on GovDeals was a good idea.

Head said the only department he has not checked is the police department. Head said officers have some Army trucks no longer used that could be sold to boost the drug fund.
