Former Stockyard Building Under Demolition, Property for Sale

The building that once hosted the Cookeville Stockyard is currently under demolition.

County Executive Randy Porter said it’s unknown what the current plans are for the property after it was sold at auction in late June.

“They had approached the county about putting up the required fencing around the project while they were doing the demolition,” Porter said. “To make that all work out, they were going to have to put the fence a few feet over onto county property. They’re in the process now of doing the demolition, but as far as the future of what’s going to go there, we don’t have any idea of what the developer’s plans are at this time.”

Waymon Hale of Waymon Hale Construction in McMinnville purchased both units up for auction for a total of $2.7 million.

In an email, Hale states “there is really nothing to talk about” at this time regarding the future of the property.
