A former Overton County School Resource Officer jailed on charges of sexual offenses.
39-year-old Dustin James Farris of DeKalb County arrested Thursday for solicitation of a minor by electronic means, two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and sexual contact with a minor by an authority figure. Incidents leading to the charges ranged from May to July of this year in DeKalb County.
Farris’ latest employment was as a patrolman with the Overton County Sheriff’s Department. He served as a Overton County School Resource Officer several years ago before working with Cannon County. Farris also formerly worked for the DeKalb, White, Putnam and Cannon County Sheriff’s Departments.
The DeKalb County Grand Jury found probable cause to indict Farris Wednesday. Bond for Farris was set at $100,000. Court date scheduled for January 18th.
