Former Jamestown Mayor Lyndon Baines Reported Missing

Former Jamestown Mayor Lyndon Baines reported missing after not returning home from a motorcycle ride.

Jamestown Police Detective Jason Duncan said Baines left his home distraught around 3:00 p.m Sunday. Duncan said his wife reported him missing on Tuesday.

“He’ll go on these rides when things are bothering him, or when he starts having things playing on his mind. He’ll go to clear his head and get back out and take a deep breath,” Duncan said. “Then he always comes back home. What is uncharacteristic is that he is yet to return home.”

Duncan said the department is mainly concerned with Baines’ heart condition. Duncan said he left his home without proper medication.

“Officers have looked in the area to attempt to locate him,” Duncan said. “Checked some places that his family said that he’s known to go to just to kind of clear his head and to think when things are bothering him. County officers went to some of those locations and tried to locate him. At this point, we still have been unable to locate him or the motorcycle.”

Baines was last seen in the West Briar Avenue area. Baines was reportedly riding his silver 2006 Aprilla Motorcycle with Tennessee tags reading 330ZK8. Duncan said Baines often rides on Highway 52 East towards Morgan County.

“They’ve entered him into the NCIC database of missing persons along with the motorcycle that he was on,” Duncan said. “This morning, we’ve actually also got him in the National Center for Missing and Unidentified Individuals.”

Baines is described as being between 5’9-11” tall, weighing between 195-205 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information is asked to call Duncan at the Jamestown Police Department at (931) 267-2296.
