Former Inn of the Cumberlands Site For Sale

Tays Realty & Auction has opened bids on the former Inn of the Cumberlands property in Crossville.

City Attorney Will Ridley said during last month’s council meeting the property would be ideal for prospective businesses.

“Hopefully after the sale of that property, we’ll clean up the back taxes which currently stand around $60,000 and the city has [at least] $82,000 in expenses in the property,” Ridley said. “For people who don’t know, this property is prime commercial real estate on the corner of Highway 70 and Tennessee Avenue going towards the airport.”

Crossville City Council voted last month to sell the six-acre lot after the inn was demolished earlier this year.

The auction began Tuesday morning and will run through Tuesday, May 7 at 10 a.m. with the highest bid sitting at just over $10,000 as of Wednesday morning.

The City of Crossville paid over $88,000 to demolish the former in plus an additional $12,000 for cleanup. The building was demolished following a lawsuit filed against the former owners who owed approximately $65,000 in back taxes
